My skin’s favourite ingredient is Vitamin C. Big call, but it’s true.
Vitamin C creams, serums, oils, you name it, I’ve tried it. As an ingredient, it’s my daily non-negotiable in my skincare routine. Aside from SPF, of course.
So, all of that considered, when I was given the opportunity to try L’Oreal Paris’ new supercharged Vitamin C I jumped at the chance.
But first up, what is
Vitamin C and what does it do? I’m so glad you asked.
What Is Vitamin C?
Vitamin C is an antioxidant, generally found in skincare as the ingredient ascorbic acid.
It can also be listed under a bunch of other names like tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate — try to say that three times fast.
It works to protect against free radicals, which is skincare-speak for things that damage your skin prematurely. Think sun damage or environmental pollution.
Vitamin C also helps improve the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots, and is generally considered a brightening ingredient.
As someone who struggles with annoyingly stubborn post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, this is one of the reasons why I adore Vitamin C.
Its ability to brighten means daily usage helps with not only preventing premature ageing but also works to even out the complexion.
What Is the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Clinical 12% Pure Vitamin C Serum?

So, after all the Vitamin C hype, what actually is the L'Oreal Paris Serum?
L’Oreal Paris’ snazzy new Vitamin C serum is special for a few reasons, but perhaps most important is the fact that it uses the purest form of Vitamin C — ascorbic acid — at a deliciously concentrated 12%.
This means that the serum is at a concentration that lets it properly go to work, without being a hard pass for those of us with sensitised skin.
It also includes vitamin E, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid — three skincare superstars that work alongside the ascorbic acid to nourish, hydrate and gently exfoliate.
And last but not least, this little gem also comes with an opaque glass bottle. Now why is this important, you may be wondering?
Vitamin C is sensitive and actually degrades if not taken care of properly… which is oddly relatable for a skincare ingredient.
This means that the opaque glass packaging used for the L’Oreal Paris Vitamin C serum helps to keep the product fresh and safe from oxidising.
My L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Clinical 12% Pure Vitamin C Serum Review.

Before I jump into my thoughts, I want to set the scene for you.
I’ve got normal-to-oily skin that’s acne-prone and also a little bit sensitive.
As previously mentioned, I’ve also been around the block with Vitamin C, so we’re besties.
This is important to consider as ascorbic acid can be an irritating ingredient to those that have never used it before, are prone to redness or have super sensitive skin.
Now we’ve got that out of the way, here’s my review:
My skin and I really enjoyed the L’Oreal Vitamin C serum. Really, really enjoyed it.
But why, you ask? Great question.
First up, let's talk about texture.
This serum is definitely on the thicker side in my opinion, however, it sinks into the skin fast.
It lands somewhere close to the creaminess of a vitamin E serum, which honestly is my preferred texture for a serum.
It also feels super nourishing and leaves me with an immediate glow. Stunning.
And for those wondering — because I know there will be people — no, this serum doesn’t have a meaty smell either (like some Vitamin C serums do). A beautiful-smelling win!

Next, let me fill you in on where I fit it into my routine.
I cleanse in the morning, then pop this serum on, let it sink in, put a hydrating moisturiser on over the top and finish with my fave SPF.
I didn’t experience any pilling and was pleasantly surprised that a little pipette of the serum went a long way.
Another big win for me was the blend of ingredients in this serum.
Of course, it’s first and foremost a Vitamin C serum, but with how nicely it sat on my skin and how hydrating it felt, I actually didn’t feel the need to pop on my separate HA serum in the mornings.
So I shuffled that separate product into my nighttime skincare routine and saved myself some time in the morning.
Lastly, I definitely noticed that my skin has appeared more luminous over the past month or so, and the only thing I changed in my routine was adding in the new L’Oreal Paris Vitamin C serum.
Final Verdict...
Long story short - would I recommend the L’Oreal Revitalift Vitamin C serum to a friend?
Yes, yes, definitely!
In my opinion, it’s a great serum that’s both gentle and effective, and at a smidge under $60, it’s also nicely placed at the more affordable end of the Vitamin C serum spectrum.
