What do scalp scrubs do? Who are they best for?

You might have heard a bit of chat about how skincare is coming for our hair. Scalp scrubs are firmly in that category - they aim to look after the skin on your scalp, and by doing so, help your hair grow at its healthiest. There’s a scrub for every hair type, and many of them suit just about everyone. On the whole, this is a category to investigate if you find your scalp gets a bit oily and flaky, if you’re concerned about product build up, or if you feel like your hair could use a bit of a volume boost at the root.

How should I use a scalp scrub?

This varies by product - some scalp scrubs are meant to be used before you shampoo your hair, others come afterwards. Have a look at the directions for your scrub of choice before you get into the shower, and you’ll be golden. As a rule, though, you’ll apply to wet hair, and massage into your scalp for a minute or three before rinsing well and carrying on with the rest of your hair routine. Typically, they’re designed to be used about once a week.
