I’m a big fan of creature comforts. Is this incredibly extra of me? Of course. But at least I’m self-aware about my penchant for leaning a bit extra, right?
Whether it’s by using sleep sprays (my personal fave is
this gorgy L’Occitane one), making sure I display my favourite art, burning a candle or having enough plants around the place that I’m always within a few metres of one.
I take making my home a place that feels welcoming very seriously, especially as a renter, where I’m very limited on what I can actually do.
This doesn’t change when I move house, which I incidentally did a few weeks ago.
Amongst the boxes and sweat involved in moving across town (hello, tolls), the need to immediately make my new house feel like a home was a strong one.
Alongside sorting out my closet. Who knew I had so many T-shirts? And why?
So, after hanging all of the aforementioned T-shirts, I jumped onto Adore Beauty and ordered a few of my favourite things to help bring the good vibes to my new place.
1. Maison Balzac And Now Relax Incense Set.

I have a daily habit of either burning some incense or lighting a candle when I start my work day, so I immediately snagged this Maison Balzac set that I’ve had my eye on for a while.
The incense is absolutely gorgeous and burns long enough to spread its scent throughout the study.
The
Maison Balzac La Chapelle Incense is next on my list to try, as the moody scent perfectly matches the colder weather we’re getting in Melbourne right now.
2. Glasshouse Fragrances Bora Bora Bungalow Fragrance Diffuser.

Next up we needed a diffuser to pop in the main bathroom, and how could I go past anything from Glasshouse.
It was between the Bora Bora and
The Hamptons scents, and we ended up leaning towards the more citrus of the two.
3. Glasshouse Fragrances Jubilant Haze Soy Candle.

So this candle was actually for my boyfriend, who wanted something to burn while he was working (or gaming).
His desk is right next to where we feed the dogs (yes that’s right, multiple) so it smells a bit… funky sometimes.
I had the new Jubilant Haze scent burning in my old apartment, and as a lover of fresh scents, he liked it enough to repurchase.
4. Medik8 Gentle Cleanse.

I also snagged a bottle of the brilliant Medik8 gentle cleanser, a product that I’ve lovingly bought multiple times before.
It’s a cleanser that gently removes build-up without that stripping feeling - so it’s perfect for skin like mine that’s sensitive af.
I’m also lucky enough to own a
Foreo cleansing device (thanks mum!), and this cleanser pairs wonderfully with it.
5. STRAAND Microfibre Hair Towel.

I popped this on my wishlist after hearing Kate, our on-the-pulse marketing manager, mention how much her daughter loved it after she gifted it to her last year.
And just like her mum, her daughter was on the money!
After moving, I’d misplaced a bunch of my towels, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to add this microfibre hair towel to my hair wash routine, and I’ve honestly never looked back.
I’ve got long, fine hair so I do have to be delicate when wrapping my hair (yes, I do have a silk pillowcase), and this hair towel is great at soaking up all the excess moisture in my hair and looking super chic while doing it.
Major points as well for their shampoo and conditioner, which I naturally had on-hand already.
6. COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch.

Last but by no means least in my order were some pimple patches.
Two packets, in fact, since they’re so handy and affordable.
Moving is stressful, which I’m sure comes as a surprise to genuinely no one. So it was natural that a few spots popped up on my face in the days after moving.
I spent my youth really self-conscious about acne, but now I do my best to just embrace it as a part of life while doing what I can to reduce its size and severity.
And this is where the pimple patches come in.
Final Thoughts.
So after settling into my great-smelling new house, with a face that is delightfully pimple free at the minute, my advice is this: Make sure you’re surrounded by things that you love and bring you joy.
Life is too short not to be.
And on that note, I’m off to burn some incense.
