I’m sure we’re all familiar with the brand
Skinstitut, right?
The affordable cosmeceutical or 'active' skincare brand is known for great, multi-functional products that won't make your bank account weep.
For example, take the
Skinstitut Glycolic Scrub 14% - yes, it's an exfoliating cleanser, but it's also my holy grail body scrub for fake tan prep and post-laser ingrown hairs.
Skinstitut Enzymatic Micro Peel is another beautiful exfoliating face mask all skin types can have in their skincare stash. And I've been recommending the
affordable Skinstitut moisturisers for different skin types for
years.
But we're not here to talk about Skinstitut.
Today, we're talking about their
Skinstitut Expert range.
If Skinstitut is your go-to for quality and affordable skincare basics, then think of Skinstitut Expert as a big step up.
From a retinol oil to a peptide serum, the range features just five active skincare products with potent formulas specifically made to address visible signs of ageing.
But what are these Skinstitut Expert products really like? And how do they compare to your other active serums and treatments?
Keep scrolling for my Skinstitut Expert reviews, including the products I'll be repurchasing.
What Is Skinstitut Expert?

If you're looking to add a few effective treatment products under $100 into your existing skincare routine, Skinstitut Expert has you covered.
The range is all about 'future-proofing' your skin to target skin concerns like the look of fine lines and wrinkles, skin tone and texture, dehydration and loss of firmness.
With just five targeted and reasonably-priced products (there might be a few more coming, stay tuned), Skinstitut Expert is about quality skin care at an accessible price point, that's neither intimidating nor confusing.
The formulas are all killer, no filler.
Think ingredients like niacinamide (vitamin B3) to rehydrate and restore your skin barrier function, retinol to effectively target fine lines and wrinkles, hyaluronic acid to ensure skin stays plump, and peptides to keep the skin firm.
Basically, these products are full of the ingredients you want in your routine if ageing is a concern.

Now onto my Skinstitut Expert reviews, because you all want to know whether to add these buzzy products to cart.
A quick disclaimer: Active skin care takes time and consistency to 'work', so these are my thoughts after trialling the range for a few weeks.
And as a dermal therapist, I'm always going to recommend a combination of at-home skincare products and in-clinic skin treatments when managing skin concerns like hyperpigmentation, skin texture and signs of ageing.
Back to Skinstitut Expert!
The entire range comes in sturdy, airtight packaging in deep purple with a brushed metal finish that looks and feels more premium than the existing Skinstitut cult buys.
All the products also have a super light floral-y scent that makes using them a fun experience. It’s beautiful and fresh and not at all overpowering, but it's something to be mindful of if you're sensitive to fragrance.
Let's break down what you need to know about each Skinstitut Expert product.
1. Skinstitut Expert Restore Niacinamide Replenishing Cream.

What:
A daily moisturiser designed to rehydrated dry and dehydrated skin morning and/or night.
Ingredients:
Niacinamide for barrier function, kakadu plum to brighten, vitamin B5 to soothe and keep the skin calm, and hyaluronic acid to plump and help the skin retain moisture.
Best for:
All skin types - especially if you are over 30 (you will love it!).
My Skinstitut Expert Restore Niacinamide Replenishing Cream review:
The texture is middle-range thick, which I think is great when you’re not 17 anymore and need the extra hydration.
Works great as a nourishing ‘skin prep moisturiser’ for under makeup in the morning.
Feels calming on the skin when used at night, either before and/or after your retinol, or layered with other serums.
Final verdict:
I honestly made this moisturiser a staple in my stash immediately. Straight up, I'm obsessed with it.
My skin feels 10/10 calm, hydrated, glowy and all the things when I use it.

2. Skinstitut Expert Reset Skin-Firming Peptide Serum.

What:
A skin-firming peptide serum clinically-proven to improve skin firmness and elasticity.
This age management serum is designed to plump the skin and target the look of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.
Ingredients:
Firma-peptide complex to firm the skin and address visible signs of ageing, niacinamide to support the skin barrier, and hyaluronic acid to attract moisture.
Best for:
All skin types looking to manage signs of ageing.
My Skinstitut Expert Reset Skin-Firming Peptide Serum review:
This serum comes in a pump bottle and you need two pumps for the whole face.
Formula feels like a lightweight yet hydrating serum that's very nice on the skin.
I popped it on top of my vitamin C serum in the morning and before my moisturiser and sunscreen - layers beautifully, no pilling.
Final verdict:
I haven't been trialling this product for long enough to speak about its age management benefits, but peptides will always be a great ingredient to add to your skincare routine.
This serum would be an excellent hydrating everyday product, and especially great if you're
pregnant and/or breastfeeding and are missing your vitamin A products!Shop Skinstitut Expert Reset Skin-Firming Peptide Serum here:
3. Skinstitut Expert Reveal Retinol Face Oil.

What:
An mid-strength retinol face oil designed to address all the visible signs of ageing while minimising irritation.
Ingredients:
Retinyl palmitate (a very gentle vitamin A derivative) and 0.9 per cent retinol (a low-to-mid range percentage of a stronger form of vitamin A) work on hyperpigmentation, dullness, acne scarring and texture, without the usual 'retinol face' redness and irritation.
Vitamin E and macadamia oil also help to nourish and balance the skin.
Best for:
All skin types, but particularly good for dry skin types or anyone struggling to find an effective retinol product that doesn't irritate.
My Skinstitut Expert Reveal Retinol Face Oil review:
The 0.9 per cent retinol combined with the gentle vitamin A ester makes this a well-tolerated retinol product.
Comes in a handy sealed dropper bottle, making it easy to use.
Has a dry oil texture that feels nourishing on the skin.
Applies well at night after cleansing, with the Skinstitut Expert moisturiser on top.
Final verdict:
Personally, I prefer a stronger vitamin A product for my own skin as I am an experienced active skincare user!
However, if you have robust skin that tolerates active ingredients well, this would be a great first vitamin A option.
Also an effective non-irritating retinol option for dry or sensitised skin types who have previously used and tolerated a beginner vitamin A product like
Skinstitut Retinol 30ml - think of the Skinstitut Expert retinol as a few steps up.

4. Skinstitut Expert Revive Smoothing Eye Treatment.

What:
An age management eye cream designed to improve the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and elasticity.
Ingredients:
Antioxidant kakadu plum brightens the look of skin, marine algae and botanical oils repair and nourish.
Best for:
Anyone and everyone - except if you're prone to milia (little white dots of keratin that form under the eye after using products with a rich, thick texture).
My Skinstitut Expert Revive Smoothing Eye Treatment review:
Hate eye creams in jars? You will love this.
It’s a one pump and done type of product, very user-friendly.
Texture feels lush and incredibly hydrating.
Works well when applied to prep the under-eye area before concealer.
Final verdict:
I'm not prone to puffiness so I can't comment on the de-puffing aspect. It's also too early to see improvements related to my dark circles.
However, this is my second favourite product from the range, behind the moisturiser.
It's perfect for anyone with age management concerns who just wants one nourishing eye cream you can use morning and night.

5. Skinstitut Expert Revitalise Hyaluronic Jelly Mask.

What:
A hydrating hyaluronic acid mask designed to revitalise and hydrate dull, dry and dehydrated skin.
Ingredients:
Peptides to help firm the skin, hyaluronic acid to boost the skin's moisture content, and antioxidants for that glow.
Best for:
All skin types can benefit from this, including those with oily skin or combination skin who struggle with dehydration.
My Skinstitut Expert Revitalise Hyaluronic Jelly Mask review:
Lightweight gel sinks into the skin quickly, so doesn’t transfer to your pillow at night if you want to leave on as a sleeping mask.
My favourite way to use this product is as a 10-minute pre-makeup mask in the morning. (I prefer the moisturiser at night time.)
Feels cooling and leaves my skin instantly brighter and more hydrated.
The perfect base for a smooth, flawless foundation application.
Final verdict:
I'm a major fan of this versatile hydrating mask, particularly as skin prep before makeup to avoid
crusty, dry-looking foundation.
Did I mention it only takes 10 minutes?!

Final Verdict on Skinstitut Expert.
Skinstitut makes great cosmeceutical skincare products at accessible prices...
Skinstitut Expert is no different.
The range ticks all the boxes, no matter your skin type.
Expect skin that looks and feels healthy, hydrated and bright, plus the extra nourishment and support skin needs long term as you get older.
If you're used to OG Skinstitut prices, know the Expert products sit in the next bracket up.
As far as active skincare products go, they're very reasonable, and are worth it in my view.
Hot tip: If you're over 30, you'll want to add the moisturiser and eye cream to cart ASAP.
