Hi there, (almost) 30-year-old beauty editor here with dry skin prone to redness, hyperpigmentation and dehydration.
My job involves trialling a lot of beauty products - tough gig, I know - and probably the most common question I'm asked is...
"OK, but does skin care actually work?"
The thing I've learnt about skin care from experts and editors is it all comes back to your individual skin type and concerns.
For example, what works for my skin probably won't work for my mum who has combination skin (oily T-zone and dry cheeks). Or my partner's blackhead-prone oily skin.
Enter, SkinCeuticals.
You can suss out my SkinCeuticals skincare routine in the short video below!
Arguably one of the best cosmeceutical skincare brands in the world, SkinCeuticals makes science-backed active skincare products to suit every skin type and help manage most skin concerns.
Rather than buying what your friend's third cousin's best friend is using on Instagram, pick products designed to treat your skin concerns, and you'll be golden.
So, if dryness and dehydration, a dull complexion, and sun damage and acne scars (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) sound like a bit of you, then you've come to the right place.
Keep scrolling as I take you step-by-step through my current SkinCeuticals skincare routine.
And yes, we'll talk about *that* cult C E Ferulic serum...
But also some other SkinCeuticals products I love for my skin type and concerns.

1. SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser.

I don't always wash my face in the morning, but when I do, I'll use a cream cleanser like this one.
The emollient ingredients and nourishing, comforting texture leave my skin feeling clean, soft and supple.
This SkinCeuticals cleanser is super mild, but effective enough to remove eye makeup.
Oh, and it's even safe for post-procedure, sensitive and traumatised skin.

2. SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Essence Mist.

Big call, but SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Essence Mist is maybe my favourite face mist, ever.
I genuinely used to think mists were a waste of money, but I've been through about three bottles of this one and have no plans to stop.
The emerald green packaging and fresh, herbaceous scent are beautiful.
And the mist is lovely and fine. A small but very important detail.
But the phyto-botanical blend of boldus leaf, cucumber, thyme, olive leaf and rosemary extracts, plus hydrators hyaluronic acid and glycerin, help to soothe and hydrate the skin.
Best of all, it works to reduce the look of redness. I also find serums sink into the skin better if I've misted beforehand.

3. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum.

Speaking of serums, let me tell you about how bloody good SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum - 30ml is for the billionth time.
Yes, it's an investment. And yes, it has a unique scent best described as ham water.
But I've been using the C E Ferulic serum for more than two years and honestly, nothing else compares.
15 per cent L-ascorbic (the most studied and potent form of vitamin C), vitamin E and ferulic acid deliver radiance, protect against free radical damage to prevent premature ageing, and work on fading existing hyperpigmentation.
A little goes a long way, too. Just a few drops pressed into the skin is all you need.
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is best for normal to dry skin types like mine.
If you have oily, combination, acne-prone or sensitised skin, read our SkinCeuticals vitamin C serums article to find the best SkinCeuticals antioxidant serum for your skin type and concerns.

4. SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel.

Because hyperpigmentation and dullness are my primary skin concerns, I apply my vitamin C serum first, followed by a hydrating serum.
SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel - 30ml is the fourth step in my morning routine, and it perfectly compliments my vitamin C serum.
The silky, lightweight formula contains panthenol (or vitamin B5) and hyaluronic acid to soothe, strengthen and hydrate the skin barrier.
It's juicy skin in a bottle, and especially great for dehydrated skin-havers.

5. SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense SPF50+ Sunscreen.

The final step of any morning skincare routine is sunscreen.
If you're not wearing yours, we're in a fight.
SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense SPF50+ 30ml offers broad spectrum SPF 50+ protection with a mix of chemical/organic and mineral filters.
The lightweight cream texture with a radiant satin finish makes skin feel fresh and hydrated, and sets into the skin nicely under makeup.
Pro tip: I like to apply sunscreen in layers to ensure I'm wearing enough to get the protection my skin needs.
Don't forget the ears and neck, and always stay sun safe out in the wild.
That means wearing protective clothing, chucking on sunnies and a hat, and seeking shade.
You know the drill.

And that's my SkinCeuticals morning skincare routine done!
If your skin type and concerns sound similar to mine, then might I encourage you to give one (or all) of these products a try?
I might be biased, but this routine leaves my skin looking and feeling calm, bouncy and radiant.
Just the way I like it.
