In Partnership with Peter Thomas Roth.
Picking a favourite active skincare ingredient feels like choosing one child over another.
It’s a difficult question to answer, they’re all so different but just as good at what they do.
But if for whatever reason I had to – like, life dependent on it vibes – it would be hyaluronic acid.
For the beauty-versed, that’s probably the equivalent of ordering a spicy marg in a dimly lit wine bar whose cocktail menu consists only of bougie bespoke drinks that’ll have you googling the ingredients under the table.
Basic? Sure. But delicious? Certainly! At least that’s what my dry skin says.
So when our senior editor handed me a moisturiser claiming to have a 30 per cent (!!) hyaluronic acid complex, my pores practically perked up at the chance to try it.
Enter, Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Rich Barrier Moisturizer.
The cult-favourite cloud cream has been around the block for quite some time, beloved by beauty editors, ‘skin-fluencers’ and customers alike.
Yet, truthfully I’d never actually tried any Peter Thomas Roth products (she’s lovely but sadly a lil' out of my budget).
But if its name is any indication of its capabilities, I knew my dry skin and I were in for a treat.
Did it live up to the hype? Let’s find out.
What Is Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench?

Peter Thomas Roth is one of those cosmeceutical skincare brands that if you know you know.
The US clinical brand is all about creating “groundbreaking” formulas containing the most effective active ingredients at the highest concentrations possible – like their hyaluronic acid-rich cloud cream.
If the name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, you may recognise Peter Thomas Roth by their Instant FirmX Eye Temporary Eye Tightener treatment that went
viral on TikTok a couple of years ago.
(If you have no idea what I’m talking about you *need* to watch this video immediately.)
In close second is the best-selling
Water Drench range.
Consisting of moisturisers, serums and cleansers, the collection is designed to do exactly as its name suggests: drench your skin in moisture-rich ingredients that feel soft and weightless, like clouds in the sky.
Mmmm... dreamy.
For the sake of this review, we’re honing in on the hero Cloud Cream.
In addition to the aforementioned hyaluronic acid complex (which, let's not forget can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water; translation: hydration station), the moisturiser includes pentavitin, an ingredient that helps lock in moisture for up to 72 hours.
There are also ceramides, silk proteins and other skin-loving ingredients that nourish and plump the skin so that it’s smooth, soft and youthful-looking.
Here are some other fast facts:
Day and night ultra-hydrating moisturiser.
Dries light as a cloud and feels weightless on the skin.
Formulated to be oil-free, alcohol-free, and fragrance-free.
Suitable for normal, combination, dry, and sensitive skin types.
Elderberry extract provides antioxidant protection to shield skin from environmental stressors.
Sounds almost too good to be true, but is it? My colleague and I investigate below.
Our Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Reviews.
Jas, Beauty Editor.

Skin type: Dry.
TLDR; A mysterious yet magical moisturiser I never want to be without. Like ever.
I’ve been searching for the right words to explain this moisturiser, but nothing quite does it justice.
Its formula is like nothing I’ve tried before – it’s thick, but feels light as a feather; it glides on like butter, but doesn’t leave a greasy residue; it makes my skin look juicy, but is dry to the touch.
Usually, I look for face creams that contain oils (shea, coconut, argan) to deeply hydrate my desperately dry skin, so imagine my surprise when discovering this oil-free formula left my skin feeling just as, if not more, nourished!?
It sinks into every nook and cranny to soothe dry patches, and gives my skin a glowy boost.
I can quite literally feel its film-like finish melting off my face when I cleanse hours later. If that doesn’t say long-lasting then I don’t know what does.
The only con is the cream's price tag because now that I've experienced it, I'm not sure I can go back. RIP my bank account.

Skin type: Normal, dehydration-prone.
"My skin is always thirsty, constantly looking for its next drink.
So generally a gel moisturiser doesn't typically provide enough hydration for me - until now.
The Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hydrating Moisturiser is unlike any other gel moisturiser that I've tried.
It's far more capable of providing lasting hydration. It literally melts into your skin feeling completely weightless, and leaves your complexion bouncy, hydrated and smooth.
A perfect morning moisturiser to sit under makeup."
