Skincare that repairs and replumps in a matter of mere hours? Yep, it’s La Roche-Posay.
Known for their highly potent, dermatologist-backed formulas, the French pharmacy mainstays have just levelled up their iconic Hyalu B5 range.
The new Suractivated collection is teeming with a quartet of hyaluronic acid weights, designed to do more than just sit on the surface. We are talking about deep-level structural support that targets everything from "tech neck" lines to that late-afternoon facial slump.
With promises of a 27 times more hydration in the skin and up to 72 Hours of lasting hydration - we put the new formulas to the test. Here's everything you need to know.
La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Suractivated Serum

Fast Facts:
Targets wrinkles, loss of volume and elasticity
Revives tired and dull complexion
Leaves skin intensely hydrated and visibly smoother
Immediate firming and plumping effect
Suitable for all skin types, specially formulated for sensitive skin
Nickel controlled formula
I'm a little bit of a snob when it comes to hyaluronic acid (HA) serums. I incorporate them into my routine twice daily - my perpetually dry skin demands it - but when it comes to selecting the right one; texture and longevity are my non-negotiables. Formulas that do the heavy lifting without leaving any sticky residue in its wake. The texture of this new iteration is a fresh water-gel that feels quite light and dries down onto the skin nicely. The tackiness was pretty mild and subsidised after a few minutes. And I'm please to report there was absolutely no pilling when layering.
It uses four different molecular weights to hit every level of your skin's structure; the high-weight molecules shield the surface, while the micro-weights dive deep to actually correct wrinkles. Within the first hour, I noticed an added bounce to my skin's elasticity; a claim backed by the 76% of users who saw instant plumping. Hour four saw that healthy, plumped effect still going strong.
Instead, the Madecassoside and Vitamin B5 worked diligently to soothe redness, firm and tone the complexion.

I really enjoyed this formula! It possesses a decadent, whipped texture that manages to feels plush and expensive without being "heavy".
The real draw here is the suractivated technology, which is clinically engineered to recover skin’s bounce in a quick four-hour window.
Enriched with a high concentration of Vitamin B5, the formula functions as a long-term restorative treatment for a fatigued barrier, promising a staggering 72 hours of moisture retention.
After layering it over the serum for a fortnight, those fine, parched lines around my mouth (where foundation tends to cake) were almost entirely smoothed out. It may be a placebo, but I like to think the cream played a big role in that.
As for immediate results, skin beholds that dewy, glass-like sheen. It feels plump and oh-so hydrated. Bonus: the formula is infused with La Roche-Posay's Thermal Spring Water and can I just say - how bougee!
La Roche-Posay Hyalu Water Gel Cream

Fast Facts:
Gel-in-water technology delivers an immediate cooling and refreshing sensation.
27 times more hydration in the skin while simultaneously controlling oil.
Reduces sebum by 32% in 15 minutes for an instant shine-free finish.
Blurring effect helps to minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines over time.
Non-greasy, weightless formula perfect for oily, combination, or summer skin.
This particular formula was the real standout for me. Conventionally, "mattifying" is shorthand for "dehydrating," but this gel-in-water texture defies that trope entirely.
It manages a rare duality, delivering 27 times more hydration in the skin while simultaneously functioning like an invisible, oil-absorbing sponge. Think primer-like.
Impressively, the formula tempers 32% of surface sebum in minutes - a total win for those of us who tend to look a little too "reflective" by mid-morning. (Yes, you can be oily and dry at the same time!).
The sensorial experience was equally enjoyable. It felt quite cooling and refreshing on the skin. I was surprised by how much I loved the finish too. It possesses a genuine, primer-level blurring power that made my pores appear significantly more refined and diffused. For anyone seeking the plumping benefits of the Hyalu range but dealing with a complexion that leans more oily - this is for you!
