Vitamin C 101: not all formulas are created equally. It is one of those fickle, high-maintenance ingredients that can be notoriously difficult to get right. There is often a significant discrepancy in everything from potency and stabilisation to price point. Unfortunately, I do find this is one of those categories where you get what you pay for.
In this case, the $97.50 price point feels entirely valid (and lowkey great value considering the clinical heavy-lifting it does). The formula utilises L-Ascorbic Acid, which is widely regarded as the gold standard of Vitamin C derivatives for its ability to penetrate the skin barrier effectively.
At a 20% concentration it sits right at the top of the 10% to 20% range considered standard for maximum efficacy. This high-potency delivery works overtime to brighten a dull complexion, reduce the appearance of stubborn dark spots, and provide a formidable shield against environmental aggressors.
The formula is also impressively stacked with a supporting cast of "super" ingredients. There is Pycnogenol (Pine Bark Extract), a powerful antioxidant that defends against oxidative stress while simultaneously soothing the skin. You will also find Hydroxytyrosol, an Olive Extract that acts as a free radical fighter to help prevent future pigmentation and CoEnzyme Q10 (a personal favourite!) for its ability to replenish antioxidants and smooth out fine lines.
The texture of this one is interesting; it feels less like a traditional astringent serum and more like a lightweight moisturiser. It's runny and absorbs beautifully without that metallic scent often associated with high-strength Vitamin C. I didn’t notice any pilling - a common grievance when layering active ingredients - but if your skin is on the reactive side or you are short on time, a handy trick is mixing a few drops of this beauty directly in with your daily moisturiser.
