My name is Iain and I've worked in the Beauty Industry for 8 years now. I've been on the front line in store helping people navigate the world of skin, as well as worked in education, artistry and marketing. When I'm not writing about skincare, you can find me over at Instagram talking about beauty or working on my PhD.
Few words fill me with more joy than ‘self-care’.
Even reading them, the tension in my shoulders relaxes and I envision exactly how I’m going to make that self-care happen.
For me, self-care is best practiced on a Sunday, with a glass of wine (or bourbon if that’s your jam), a mood-setting candle, a face mask, and a plan to tackle my week.
I think it’s easy for everyone to forget about self-care, but particularly if you’re a guy. So please, follow my men’s self-care guide and get on the self-care hype train.

1. Lumira Glass Candle - Cuban Tobacco Large - Because no self-care routine is complete without a candle

Fellas, if the only candle in your home is an ancient gift that’s collecting dust, please do yourself a favour and upgrade it! Candles not only set the ambience for your self-care ritual, but they’ve gotten so chic.
Why it's so good: The Lumira Glass Candle - Cuban Tobacco Largesmells exactly like an inviting whiskey cigar bar: sophisticated, warm, and inviting. Let this candle remind you you’re taking time for yourself. Not to mention, that when you’re finished burning it, the vessel makes the ultimate toothbrush and razor holder. We can’t help but love a reusable luxury.

2. Yves Saint Laurent Y Shower Gel 200ml - The luxury alternative to a bar of soap

All right, you may be thinking, Hmm, expensive shower gel. Normally, I’d agree with you. But this is self-care Sunday we’re talking about.
Why it's so good: There’s something so decadent about lathering up with YSL’s iconic Y fragrance. And the luxe formula leaves your body clean, never stripped, and faintly scented. The powerful blend of Ginger, Juniper, and Bergamot instantly elevates your mood. You don’t have to shower with this treat daily. In fact, if you pull it out only once a week to indulge yourself, it’ll give you one more reason to stick to your self-care habit.

3. Foreo Luna 3 for Men - The ultimate shaving accessory

The days of using harsh scrubs before shaving is over. Foreo has released a Luna cleansing device exclusively for beards.
Why it's so good: The hypoallergenic Silicone bristles are combined with Foreo’s T-Sonic to deeply and effectively cleanse and prepare your skin for shaving. After all, it’s easy to miss spots when you have hair covering half your face. If you’re not a bloke with a beard, don’t worry: this is great for bare-faced chaps as well to make sure you’re cleansing properly.

4. Sodashi Mens Clean Skin Cleanser and Shaving Emulsion - Not your dad’s 2-in-1 product

As men, we have the joy of having to wash *and* shave our face daily. Sodashi’s cleansing emulsion is the ultimate 2-in-1 that actually achieves both functions perfectly.
Why it's so good: Macadamia and Jojoba Oils soften debris and grime while also giving your blade something to glide over. And White Clay removes impurities from the skin. You're left with skin that’s both perfectly clean and smooth. Use this while you’re showering so your skin is prepped for masking.

5. Hunter Lab Charcoal Mud Mask 65g - The perfect after-party detox

The best part about having a self-care routine on a Sunday night is that if you’ve had an, er, indulgent weekend, you can help repair your skin.
Why it's so good: This vegan and cruelty-free mask is full of Charcoal and Black Clay to remove build-up and impurities lingering deep in your pores. Apply a thick, even layer all over and allow it to dry on the skin. Remove with a warm, wet washcloth to obliterate any build-up in your skin. Your skin will feel smooth, clean, and ready to tackle the week.

6. Clinique For Men Maximum Hydrator 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator 50ml - Advanced hydration in a weightless formula

Now that we’re shaved, thoroughly cleansed, and masked, it’s time to replenish your skin. Clinique’s Maximum Hydrator is an oil-free gel-cream that’s also fragrance-free.
Why it's so good: It boasts high levels of Hyaluronic Acid to plump up your skin, Green Tea to soothe, and Vitamin C for antioxidant protection. This moisturiser doesn’t feel greasy, sticky, or heavy on skin, so you won’t even know you’re wearing it. While you should be hydrating morning and evening, it’s particularly important you do so on a self-care night so you’ll be looking fresh on Monday morning.

7. L'Occitane Cocon De Serenite Relaxing Pillow Mist 100ml - Self-care must-have: sleep

Look, we all know how important sleep is, right? But it’s not always the easiest thing to actually fall asleep. I think when you’re following the ultimate men’s self-care guide, you should prioritise sleep. L’Occitane, thankfully, has you covered.
Why it's so good: This aromatherapeutic moment will have you nodding off in no time with its just-right dose of Lavender Oil. Spray some on your pillow so you can unwind and relax naturally before you have to start with the hustle and bustle tomorrow.

8. Bad Norwegian Revitalize Face- Intense moisturiser for fine lines

This is a moisturiser that does some serious work at keeping your skin looking great, so you don't have to.
Why it's so good: This luxe face cream contains premium natural ingredients to firm and hydrate the skin. It has a non-greasy, fast absorbing texture, making it a great last step in your routine. Plus, it's cruelty free and vegan if those are boxes you like to tick!

There you have it: my ultimate men’s self-care kit.
Take a couple hours on a Sunday evening to treat your skin with some proper TLC and reap the benefits of starting your week right, king!
