Medik8’s Overnight H.E.O. Mask Made Me Look Like I Had 12 Hours of Sleep

I’m sure most of you skincare aficionados are already well-acquainted with Medik8, but just in case you’re not, it's one of our most-loved, trusted and purchased cosmeceutical brands.
It continues to stand the beauty test of time thanks to its scientific approach to formulations that are results-driven.
In non-beauty speak that means they’re really good, their products work and that’s why everyone loves them.
The brand is even loved by celebrity facialist Joanna Czech who is a big fan of the Vitamin A range as well as the Medik8 C-Tetra Luxe 30ml.
So it was with much anticipation that Medik8 fans (especially those with really dry skin) were waiting for the release of their new innovation, the H.E.O. overnight mask.
And because it’s my (very cool) job to road-test beauty products and tell you about them, I very happily put my hand up to try this exciting new hydrating mask.
Its main promise?
That I’d wake up with soft, hydrated and supple skin thanks to the surge of moisture it delivers.
And let me tell you, it didn't disappoint.
It aced both its first and second impressions test and now I’m already sad about the day i’ll run out.
If you have dry skin, this may just be one of if not the best overnight face mask you ever put on your face.
While I don’t really have dry skin, I loved it for many other reasons.

What Is the MEDIK8 H.E.O. Mask?
The Medik8 H.E.O. Mask is a two-step overnight mask that promises to deeply hydrate even the driest of skins and leave skin looking and feeling smoother, plumper and more supple.
How does it do this?
It’s cleverly crafted with a blend of H.E.O. (Humectants, Emollients and Occlusives). These are the three essential components to moisturisation.
Usually, most products only contain one of these elements, but that’s what makes this mask so special.
It contains all three!
Humectants - Are like magnets that help draw water to the skin to rehydrate, smooth and plump.
Humectants found in this mask are: Multi-weight hyaluronic acid, glycerin, natural moistursing factors and blue sea kale.
Emollients - Use their skin-identical, oil-loving properties to make sure moisture doesn't escape the skin. Essentially, it locks in moisture.
Emollients found in this mask are: Ceramides, squalane and linoleic acid.
Occlusives - Work to create a breathable barrier on the skin’s surface to lock in the humectants and emollients while also preventing transepidermal water loss. This will also help with keeping your skin barrier happy.
Occlusive in this mask is: Dimethicone which helps with improving the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

How to Use the MEDIK8 H.E.O. Mask.
After cleansing and applying your usual serum that you may use, apply this two-step mask as the last step of your PM skincare routine.
Simply smooth an almond-sized amount of Step 1 over your face, neck and décolletage making sure you avoid the eye area.
Allow to absorb for a few minutes, then gently massage an almond-sized amount of Step 2 to lock in all of Step 1’s goodness.
You can apply the Medik8 H.E.O. mask 2-3 times a week.
The brand advises to do a patch test before using.
My Medik8 H.E.O. Mask Review.
First, let’s chat about texture.
Step 1 has a gel-like consistency (comes out blue but goes on clear) and feels just how you imagine a gel to feel on the skin.
Step 2 was my fave. It felt like a creamy moisturiser and my face looked like a happy, glazed donut after applying.
But did it live up to the hype?
When a product promises that I’m basically going to wake up with a new face, I’m definitely approaching with a healthy level of scepticism.
So you can imagine my surprise when I woke up and indeed my face looked slightly plumper. By this I mean, my face looked really well-rested. Like I had just slept for an eternity.
What I also loved about this mask is that you just leave it on. No rinsing. Just letting it work its magic while you get some zzz’s.
This matters by a factor of a hundred because I usually get lazy with normal masks that I have to let sit for 15 minutes, wash off then follow with the rest of my routine.
I don't have the energy for that at 9pm.
With this mask, I do all my other skincare first, pop this mask on last then go to bed.
Easy.
I can also confirm it delivered on its ‘making your skin feel softer and more supple’ promise.
Final Verdict...
If you're someone who has tired-looking skin and you want to cheat your way to looking like you've actually had sleep or you have dry skin, this two-step mask is calling your name.
While I don’t really have dry skin, I still loved the results I saw in the morning.
I loved the gentle and creamy rich texture, the massaging of the product into my skin (felt like I was having a little spa experience) and mostly that I woke up looking, better.
I tried it again a few nights later and my skin was still feeling really soft.
I just really appreciate that this mask makes me look like I’ve had the best slumber of my life.
Worth it.
