We know that for a lot of people applying
false lashes can be the bane of your existence. That’s why we’ve put together this simple routine to help you
nail your fake lash application.
In this routine Megan Miloshis from our Social and Content team, who is also an experienced MUA, takes us through her
best tips and tricks for applying false lashes with no fuss.
Beginners Eyeshadow and Fake Eyelash Tutorial
Megan’s False Lash Tips:
Practice makes perfect! The more experience you have putting on lashes, the easier it will be.
Make sure your lashes are symmetrical by counting the little knots on the lashes (groups of lashes).
If you have acrylic nails, try applying the lash with a pair of tweezers.
Remember to move slowly, and don’t let the lash sense your fear!
Megan’s fuss free false lash routine:
Tailor your lashes to suit your eye length by trimming them slightly. Megan recommends trimming from the outer corner so they blend more seamlessly with your lashes. Make sure your lashes are symmetrical by counting the little knots.
Step 2: Apply your adhesive
Step 2: Apply your adhesive
Next, take your
and pop some on the back of your hand and let it air dry a bit. This will help it become tacky and easier to work with. Grab some lash glue with the end of your
tweezer and coat the strip of your lash with the adhesive, making sure not to touch the inner edge or the outer edge.
Step 3: Applying the lash
Step 3: Applying the lash
First, grab a mirror so you can see what you’re doing easily. Then, using either your fingers or a pair of
tweezers and try to pop the lash in the little area where your natural lashes meet your eyelid. Remember to move slowly, for precise application. Tilt your head back and place the lash vertically onto this crevice and let go.
With your fingers or tweezers you can pull your lash downwards into that little crevice. Then, slowly push the lash towards the eyelid. Go in again with your fingers and readjust the lash near your inner corner, merging it with the lash line.
So things look natural and seamless, use your tweezers to clamp your false lash and natural lash together, continuing this process across the entire lash line.
What are the best fake eyelashes?
Well, that really depends on the look you are going for - the best lash for you will ultimately come down to your preferences.
If you want an elongated eye, it’s best to go with a strip lash like the
Ardell Twin Pack Faux Mink Demi Wispies. This type of lash has short lashes towards the inner corner, and increases in length, flaring out towards the outer corner.
For a rounded eye, Megan recommends trying a lash that is fairly even in length, or one that peaks towards the centre of the eye like the iconic
M.A.C Cosmetics 4 Lash.
You can also customise your lash look with individual lashes like the
Ardell Double Individual Knot Free Medium Black, for a look with a more natural appearance.
