In Partnership With Giorgio Armani
She’s an icon, she’s a legend - she’s the one and only Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk.
With a legion of loyal fans (including many faces at Adore Beauty), this foundation has earned its cult status thanks to its weightless feel, luminous finish, and impressive staying power.
But why is it beloved and a staple in professional makeup artist kits too?
We turned to makeup artist
Stella Tu to uncover why Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk remains one of her ultimate foundation go-tos.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is one of the most iconic foundations and for good reason. As a bridal makeup artist, why do you love using this foundation and why is it a top-pick when doing bridal makeup?
Being a makeup artist, I’ve tried countless foundations, and Armani Luminous Silk truly stands out because:
1. It works beautifully on about 90% of the people who sit in my chair.
2. The texture is silky, blendable, and glides onto the skin like a dream, giving a natural medium coverage.
3. It’s easily buildable—providing coverage without feeling like you’re wearing anything.
4. It gives a gorgeous glow without crossing into that “just stepped out of a sauna” shine.
5. It’s long-lasting, yet mixable with other foundations to create the perfect coverage or finish.
6. It’s perfect for clients who want flawless yet natural skin—which is basically 99% of my brides.
Wedding days are every brides’ single most important day. With that, comes emotional moments, tears, and lots and lots of pictures taken all day. Does this foundation have the staying power to hold up under all those moments?

It’s not just about the foundation alone—while Luminous Silk is naturally long-wearing, the way you layer it can really make a difference.
For areas that tend to rub off (like around the nose, forehead, cheeks, or under the chin), I apply a thin first layer, let it settle while I work on the eyes, then add a second thin layer before concealer.
The beauty of Luminous Silk is that even after it sets, you can layer it and it still blends seamlessly. This technique makes it last through every tear, hug, and kiss.
How does Luminous Silk foundation perform under different lighting? From natural daylight ceremonies to evening receptions and flash photography? And do you find it works well with most skin tones?
What you see is exactly what you get in photos with Luminous Silk—there’s no flashback, and it doesn’t oxidise from day to night. That’s one of the reasons so many artists love it.
Armani also offers a wide shade range, and my kit covers everything from fair to deep skin tones, so I can match almost anyone perfectly.
If a bride is considering Armani Luminous Silk for her big day, what’s your top tip for ensuring the shade, texture, and finish look perfect from aisle to afterparty?
When colour-matching, swatch near the nose and cheek, compare 2–3 shades, and check in both store lighting and natural daylight. Match to the chest, not the neck—your neck is usually lighter than your body.
If you’re getting a spray tan, do the trial first so we can pick the right shade to match your tan.
You won’t need the foundation for touch-ups, but I do suggest having a powder and concealer on hand (Luminous Silk Concealer for light coverage or Armani Power Fabric Concealer for more). Powder down any shine, top up concealer if needed, and try to avoid face kisses and pressing your phone to your cheek during the day.
All of these points considered, would you say Lumnious Silk goes beyond just the “perfect wedding day foundation” but also as a great long-lasting and skin-enhancing foundation makeup lovers should have in their aresenal? Especially for other special occasions?

Absolutely! Luminous Silk isn’t just a “perfect wedding day foundation”—it’s that flawless-yet-natural, skin-enhancing formula every makeup lover should have in their kit.
From an everyday look to a special occasion or evening event, it delivers a consistently beautiful finish. That versatility and reliability is exactly why it deserves a spot in your foundation rotation.
