ICYMI; The beauty pendulum has swung back to 2016, which means maximalist nails are officially on the menu.
We’re moving away from the 'quiet luxury' of naked nails and back into the era of finger painting. So liken your nailbeds to a canvas and get creative. From hypnotic Aura nails to punchy polka dots and high-shine chrome, we predict these nail trends will be splashed all over the FYP. Bookmark this as inspo for your next mani.

Read My Aura (Nails)

Like a mood ring for your cuticles.
The Aura trend is all about blending multiple shades into a hazy, idyllic gradient that mimics a traditional 'aura' energy field. It’s dreamy, celestial and surprisingly wearable.
While the most seamless, high-definition ombré is usually achieved with an airbrush tool at the salon, you can easily hack the look at home with a makeup sponge.

How To Create Aura Nails At Home

1. Apply your chosen base colour and let it dry completely - this is non-negotiable for a crisp blend.
2. Apply a small amount of your secondary shade to a sponge (the Adore Beauty Wedge Sponge is perfect for this) and gently dab onto the centre of the nail. Repeat in thin layers until you reach your desired intensity.
3. Lock in that soft-focus design with a high-shine top coat. I’m currently a devotee of the essie Stay Longer top coat for a polished finish.

Dripping In Metallics

We're moving away from the "glazed donut" sheer and diving headfirst into a heavy, molten finish that looks like it’s been poured directly onto the nail. The result is a high-shine, futuristic look that is equal parts edgy and sophisticated.
Celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt (@nailsbyzola) - who's responsible for tending to the hands of Hailey Bieber and Sabrina Carpenter - is also a chrome advocate.
Zola says, “Anything with chrome is popular! I love taking a simple nude look and adding chrome to create a pretty glazed manicure, and you can change the look with seasonal shades - the shimmer and mirrored finish takes a classic look to the next level”.
Get The Look With These Polishes:
Want to up the ante? Try 3D embellishments for added dimension. Want less? Try chrome French tips or accent shapes.

Animal Print, But Make It Neutral

This trend is all about texture. Taking high-fashion cues from the wild, these animal prints add intrigue and interest without being too "busy".
Whether you’re leaning into the timeless allure of leopard, the graphic lines of zebra or the depth of a classic tortoise shell, the key to keeping it elevated is staying within a strictly sophisticated palette. Think: creamy whites, velvety nudes or a single accent shade.
To master the look, use a fine detailing brush to layer your tones, keeping the shapes organic and slightly irregular for a more authentic finish. For a even-more wearable finish; try incorporating patterns on a single accent nail or with a chic french mani (a la Vanessa Hudgens).

Micro-Dots Are So Back

Polka dots are claiming their spot (get it?) as the most wearable trend of the season. Far from the kitschy patterns of the past, the 2026 iteration is all about a chic, understated aesthetic that feels intentional.
Whether you go for a playful, multi-coloured look or stick to a sophisticated neutral palette of cream and espresso, it is an effortlessly wearable way to add dimension to your mani.
To achieve this at home, simply dip the end of a bobby pin into your chosen polish and press it firmly onto the nail to create perfectly weighted, salon-standard dots.

Magnetic Allure: Cat Eye Polishes

Drawing heavy influence from the innovative world of K-Beauty, the Cat Eye nail trend (sometimes referred to as velvet nails) is the ultimate 3D-effect trend for those who want movement and depth.
This technique uses magnetic pigments that shift and shimmer when exposed to a magnet, creating a soft-focus, multidimensional glow that mimics the slit of a feline eye.
In Seoul, the trend has evolved into "saturated pastels" and "icy neutrals" that feel both dreamy and high-tech.

In The Stars

Astrology enthusiasts and cool-girls alike are donning star accents to add a touch of cosmic personality to their tips.
Adorn your nails with delicate, sparkling shades for an ethereal, "star-dusted" effect or opt for bold, matte shapes to lean into a ultra-trendy Americana mood.
Whether you choose a single focal point or a scattered constellation, the effect is effortlessly cool and just a little bit magical.
