3 Bougie Makeup Products Worth Your Investment

In the world of dupes, there are some makeup products which simply cannot be replaced.
As a beauty content creator of about 7 years, I’ve tried and loved many products for not only looking incredible on my skin tone, but also for their long-lasting, high-performing and usually multi-tasking properties!
I understand that we’re all being more cautious with our spending in the current time, but if you’re looking to treat yourself, I’ve listed three luxe makeup products which are, in my opinion, worth the splurge!
1. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick.
Shade: RM.
Key features:
- A creamy, yet long-lasting lipstick.
- The formula is pigmented, comfortable and lightweight.
- There are ceramides in the formula, so your lips will feel moisturised.
Why I love to splurge on it:
- Unlike many satin lipsticks, this one is *actually* long lasting.
- It’s very pigmented, so a little will go a long way.
- It’s not just a lipstick. Of course you can use this as a gorgeous bold lip, but if you’re not feeling a bold moment, this lipstick can also be used as a lip stain.
- I definitely recommend trying this as a soft blush – dab a little bit on your cheeks and blend it out with your fingers. This will give you a stunning flush of colour. But be very light handed when using this as a blush because this lipstick is PIG-MEN-TED!

2. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.
A celebrated (and yes, expensive) base product, for good reason!
Key features:
- A weightless foundation which gives you a flawless finish every time.
- Light to medium coverage, but you can tailor this according to your liking.
- Smooths textures and blurs imperfections.
- Non-comedogenic and oil-free.
- Suitable for all skin types.
- A great foundation for all skill sets.
- Can be applied with fingers, a brush or sponge.
Why I love to splurge on it:
- My skin looks airbrushed every time I use this foundation, without fail.
- It layers well with every formula. Say goodbye to cakey or split makeup. This is one of the very few foundations that layers well with all powders, creams and serum-like makeup and products.
- There have been some medium-full coverage foundations which I love, but react with my skin. Luckily, my sensitive skin loves luminous silk.
- A buildable foundation, which does not feel heavy on the skin – sounds unheard of, but trust me the luminous silk is exact that. I actually forget I’ve got a full base on with this product.
- It’s a foundation I can trust, especially for long days – I wore this recently to an Indian wedding reception. Without any touch ups, it lasted over 8 hours, survived the dance floor and still looked flawless when I got home at midnight. See for yourself:

Side note, my shade 7.75 has to be one of the most spot on colour matches I’ve ever had.
3. DIOR Backstage Glow Face Palette.
The DIOR Backstage Face and Body Palette, also known as 'my most used product' which still has not hit pan (it’s been 2 years lol!).
Key features:
- An illuminating palette with many uses.
- A very fine formula, to give you a beautiful glow without enhancing textures.
- Suitable for all makeup lovers – if you’re not a big makeup user you can use this for a healthy, soft glow. But, if you love a full glam, this is a gorgeous product for intense shine and shimmer.
Why I love to splurge on it:
- Although advertised as a face palette, let me tell you multiple ways you could use this product:
1. Eyeshadow – if you’re travelling, or just want to rely on 1 palette for your eyeshadow, these Face Palettes are perfect! You’ll get the most gorgeous shimmery eye look from any of the palettes.
2. Inner Corner Highlight – I love focusing this product in my inner corners. Focusing the product here brightens and open up my eyes.
3. Brow Bone – you will always see me use this on my brow bone to tie up my whole eye look.
4. Blush Topper – especially if you’re using a matte blush, this product will give you the most beautiful glow on the cheeks.
5. Decolletage Glow – ditch the body oils and shimmers, this is perfect to highlight your decolletage, shoulders, and anywhere else really.
- It’s a buttery powder formula, but VERY long lasting.
- This is a showstopper! I have never been a huge highlighter girly, but this gives you the most gorgeous and soft glow wherever you focus the product.
- I love this product THAT much that it’s the only makeup product I have purchased multiple shade ranges of – I have 001 Universal, 003 Pure Gold and 004 Rose Gold, and love incorporating them into all my looks.
