Can Turmeric Make Your Skin Glow? Here’s Our Beauty Writer’s Verdict...

I put Kora’s turmeric products to the test as part of my AM and PM skincare routine to see if they actually delivered on their promise.
But first…
Is Turmeric Good for Your Skin?
Turmeric isn’t something that’s been discovered by the beauty industry. It’s been around for centuries!
The golden spice has roots in both Chinese and Indian medicine and cultures, and as you probably already know, is mostly used in foods and taken as supplements.
But it’s also said to have positive benefits for the skin thanks to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory active ingredient, ‘curcumin’.
Here are some main turmeric skin benefits:
- It can assist with reducing pigmentation and spots.
- It helps to brighten and even out your skin tone.
- According to this reviewed article, using turmeric masks can even help with acne scarring.
- It’s suggested that turmeric can also help with eczema and psoriasis, and has skin wound healing properties.
OK, so now we’ve covered the benefits of turmeric for the skin, it’s time to see what happened when I incorporated these Kora turmeric products into my skincare routine.

1. The Turmeric Cleanser.
What:

- Also includes Noni (an antioxidant-rich superfood ingredient to improve skin health and replenish skin’s texture) and aloe vera juice to provide hydration.

My Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser review:
I was initially going to use the Kora Turmeric Cleanser as the first step in a double cleansing routine because I didn't think it would really break down, remove and clean all my makeup off.
I used damp hands and worked into dry skin (it has a light lather which feels nice) then rinsed and was getting ready to go in with a second cleanse.
But when I looked at my face, I saw that it actually did a great job at taking pretty much everything off!
So I skipped the double cleanse and went straight into my third cleansing step (yep, I have three) which is getting off any leftover grit and residue with a cotton pad and micellar water.
And there was hardly any.
The result? A clear and revitalised looking face as promised.
The bad news? I found this cleanser to be a little stingy on my eyes.
So go gentle around the eye area! Also if stronger scents aren’t your thing, I would give it a miss.
2. The Turmeric Moisturiser.
What:
- A certified organic, turmeric-infused moisturiser that promises to smooth and plump the appearance of skin.

This 2021 Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner was the star of the turmeric routine show.
It has a beautiful buttery texture that feels rich on the skin but not heavy or greasy.
It sits on the skin so nicely and this moisturiser is very aptly named, because it instantly delivers glowy skin.
I first used it in my evening routine following the cleanser and my skin still felt soft the next morning.
This is a big deal because my dry and cold room usually zaps the moisture out of my skin and I don't always wake up with soft skin.
I knew this was going to be a great one under makeup too because of the dewy sheen it leaves so...
The following day, I layered it under my makeup and LOOK!
It leaves such a smooth, glowy canvas for your base application. I did an 8pm check in and my face still looked glowy.
If you're going to a special event and need your face to look illuminated all night, get this moisturiser.
Can I also mention that a little goes a long way so you're truly getting bang for your buck.

3. The Turmeric Mask.
What:

- Promotes healthy cell renewal and is clinically proven to detox pores and refine tone and texture.
- Is powered by turmeric, aspen bark, rosehip seeds, papaya enzymes and peppermint.
- Is also vegan and cruelty free.
My KORA Organics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask review:
I was excited to try the Kora turmeric mask because I know of a few people who really like it.
I could smell the peppermint straight away but it wasn't as strong as the cleanser. I massaged into my skin for a few seconds before leaving it for about 15min.
I was happy with the result, and it did indeed leave me with a brighter and more even complexion.
I don't mind a physical exfoliating product, but I found these granules a little harder on my skin than I would have liked.
However, I might gift this to my mum who can tolerate a heavier mask like this one and wants a mask that will lift her dull-looking complexion.
It’s also a great one for oily-skin havers, as it can help regulate the production of sebum.
So I might even use it to multi-mask on my oily t-zone next time.
Final Verdict…
I can happily confirm the Kora organics turmeric glow is real, folks.
