It's official - TYPEBEA has just landed at Adore Beauty.
Whilst I have my own ~thoughts~ on celeb beauty brands (not you Rihanna - you're safe!) this one is a notch above. The brainchild of pop star Rita Ora and wellness entrepreneur Anna Lahey (you'd know her from Vida Glow), the haircare brand is rooted in personal experience and high-powered science.
I had the pleasure of interviewing the founders (apologies for the subtle flex) at the brand launch last year and was truly impressed with their smart, considered and data-driven approach.
Of the conception, Lahey told me "We connected over work ethic, hair struggles, and what was missing in the market. That’s where the idea for a "skinified" haircare range came from; something that was personal, effective, and rooted in ritual."
Similarly for Ora, the mission runs deep. “I started losing clumps of hair,” she shared. “I didn’t feel sexy or confident, it felt like I lost part of myself.”
That raw experience of hair loss, whether post-partum or stress related, and the idea of confidence became the driving force for the brand.
Treating strands with the same daily regard as skin (targeted active ingredients and a routine inspired lineup), their growth-boosting and strand-strengthening formulas are all about visible results and reclaiming confidence.

What is TYPEBEA?

Born from a friendship-turned-partnership between Rita Ora and Anna Lahey, TYPEBEA is a science-backed, scalp-first haircare range. The vegan and sulphate-free line up harnesses active ingredients (like baicapil, peptides, rice protein and salicylic acid) to support growth, strengthen hair, and deliver shiny locks sans any build up.
At the core of TYPEBEA’s ethos is the idea of building confidence, from (quite literally) the roots up. The meticulously crafted range - I'm told they went through 17+ rounds of formulation testing - is designed to speak to all hair types and textures.

Where Can You Purchase TYPEBEA in Australia?

You can shop the TYPEBEA range at Adore Beauty. From their cult-favourite G1 Overnight Boosting Peptide Serum to the multitasking 3-in-1 Dry Shampoo, Plus, we stock the full range. Bonus points for fast shipping and free samples with every order.

Does Hair Growth Serum Really Work?

It's the million dollar question. The answer is YES - but only when it’s formulated with clinically studied ingredients and used consistently (keyword: consistent).
The brands standout formula G1 Overnight Boosting Peptide Serum is designed to help extend the anagen (growth) phase of your hair cycle which in turn boosts hair growth, strand density and supports overall scalp health.
Hair growth doesn’t happen overnight but with regular application. Ora says “Within three months, I saw results. My hair felt strong again.”

What is Baicapil?

One of TYPEBEA’s star ingredients, baicapil is a powerful botanical complex made from three plant extracts: baikal skullcap, soy and wheat sprouts.
It works by stimulating the hair follicle to improve microcirculation to the scalp and extend the growth phase of the hair cycle.
TYPEBEA reports, in clinical studies, baicapil has been shown to increase strand count by more than 20% and reduce hair loss by up to 60%.
The hero ingredient appears in the G1 Serum and G2 Shampoo and G3 Conditioner, and is ideal for anyone looking to support strand growth.

TYPEBEA G1 Overnight Boosting Peptide Serum Review

Hair growth serums rarely earn a permanent place on my shelf - but this one did.
For context: my locks are long and naturally thick. The kind of thickness that earns me an extra 30 minutes in the salon chair per blowout. It's a blessing and a styling-curse. Which is why I'm typically avoiding formulas that throw out terms like 'growth' and 'density-boosting' like the plague.
But, as it turns out, even the fullest of strands can benefit from a little extra scalp support.

Over the years, I've noticed a slight sparseness of hair on one side of my head (the side I sleep on). Given the already full nature of my hair, I haven't filed it as a 'concern' (just yet), but it's made for the perfect testing ground for this formula.
With regular use over the last year (admittedly not super consistent) I've started growing... baby hairs! They're tiny and whispy, but show great promise to the healthy head of hair that awaits.
Designed to supercharge hair growth and density, the formula boasts a potent blend of baicapil, peptides, and redensyl. Ingredients known to energise hair follicles and help support new growth over time.
The formula is lightweight, water-based, and virtually undetectable on the scalp. It melts onto the scalp the same way hyaluronic acid does for skin. Daily use is recommended.
I like to apply the dropper directly onto my scalp (focusing on that sparser side) and massage it in gently with fingertips. This helps to boost product absorption and further stimulate those growth follicles.
If you were wanting to dip your toes into the brand, and supercharge hair's health - this is the one to try.

TYPEBEA G2 Strength & Length Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Our gorgeous Senior Beauty Editor Sadaf Razi trialled the wash duo. Here's what she had to say:
"First the shampoo - the texture is gorgeous, comes out like honey!
When I first worked it through my hair, I didn't get the big, bubbly lather I wanted (also not a sign of a bad shampoo btw, a big lather doesn't mean you're getting a better clean that’s been proven, just a personal preference and also, I have a lot of hair ground to cover) so my first thought in the shower was “yah, my hair is probably still going to look greasy” - Nope, not at all.
Once dried and styled - my hair looked and felt clean and bouncy!
The salicylic acid in the formula is also a win for me as I have a flaky scalp so any ingredients to help calm that in my shampoo is an added bonus.
If you're someone with fine or thin hair, this shampoo will definitely give you that little bit of volume you’re after.
In fact, I could visibly see the volume mid-way through blow drying my hair:

I even texted Fran and this was her response:

Next, the Typebea Conditioner - creamy, easy to work through my wet, knotty strands and didn’t weigh my hair down at all.
It’s also formulated with ingredients that help with stimulating hair growth and increasing hair density and infused with Plant-based Keratin which is rich in amino acids and helps to smooth and protect hair while leaving strands shinier.

On the second use, I brought in shine and frizz-control reinforcements by way of the Ultimate styling serum and I’ll let the results speak for themselves. Shiny, smooth, bouncy.
Final verdict:I was actually shocked that a shampoo and conditioner could give that added bounce to my hair. Big fan TYPEBEA!

TYPEBEA G4 Hydra-Gloss Treatment Mask Review

Whether hair, skin or makeup - little excites me as much as the buzzwords gloss, glaze and glassy finish. My idea of heaven!
Designed to deliver next-level shine, the mask is dosed with rice protein, coconut oil and aloe vera to smooth, strengthen and add gloss (without weighing things down). The texture is rich and buttery (great for dry, frizz-prone or colour-treated hair) and rinses out without any residue. There's a faint waft of citrus that lingers though.
I've been using this one a week (in place of conditioner) and leaving it in for 3-5 minutes in the shower (no need to wait around with a towel on your head for half an hour). I do feel it's boosted vibrancy and given my locks a nice lusturous sheen. I haven't noticed a huge difference when it comes to improving the strength of my strands - but I haven't noted any concerns either.
Pro tip: This one also doubles as a styling treatment, according to Rita Ora.
She says "I scrunch it into my curls like a gel and use it in buns. It’s so lightweight and hydrating, I sometimes leave it in all day. It makes my hair feel glossy and healthy, without that heavy product feel."

TYPEBEA G5 3-in-1 Dry Shampoo Review

adore beauty article image
This is not your typical dry shampoo. Sure, it absorbs oil like a pro - but it also adds volume, protects against pollution and UV, and contains strengthening rice protein and vitamin B5.
The finish is soft and matte with zero chalky white cast (dark brunette approved!). I spritzed it into my roots on day three hair and was shocked by the level of volume and lift it imparted. I'll be reaching for this one as a volumiser too.
Re: scent (because everyone has their own preferences), I found this one to smell crisp and clean. It wasn't overly perfumed or powdery. The scent did fade quite quickly, which worked well for me, but worth flagging for those scent afficiandos.
