I Tried the Bargain Tangle Teezer Hairbrush That’s Sold 50 Million Units Worldwide

Then I read celebrities like Victoria Beckham love this Tangle Teezer brush, and I thought woah it’s just a hairbrush, why is it so popular?
Tangle Teezer Wet Detangling Black looks like a standard hair brush, but it promises to work as a detangler on wet hair to help you sort out those messy, post-shower knots.
Or in my case, a post-shower bird’s nest.
It’s kind of rare we'd write a whole Beauty IQ on a single hairbrush, so there must be something about this popular Tangle Teezer brush that makes it such a best seller, right?

What Is the Tangle Teezer Wet Detangler?
As the name suggests, the Tangle Teezer Wet Detangling Black helps you to painlessly remove tangles and knots from wet hair.
Think of it as your post-shower hair buddy. Or you can keep it in your shower too. Whatever you please.
Here are some of the Tangle Teezer Wet Detangler's main features:
- It’s made with a patented, two-tier teeth design (so both long and short bristles) that wraps around tangles and knots with every stroke.

How to Use the Tangle Teezer Wet Detangler.
There are two ways you can use this nifty little brush.
One is to detangle knots and tangles after you've hopped out of the shower.
The other is to use it in the shower to apply your hair product evenly through the hair, whether it’s getting your shampoo into the scalp with a little massage, or evenly distributing your conditioner through your locks.
How good is that?! We love a multi-use product.
For best results, start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up using downward strokes until you're able to easily glide the brush from the roots to the ends of your hair.
If you have curly hair, you can scrunch your hair up with your hands after you've brushed through.
The brand recommends using the bigger sized Tangle Teezer Large Wet Detangler Black if you have curly hair.

How to Clean Your Tangle Teezer.
Cleaning Tangle Teezer brushes is super easy!
You’ll need a small bowl of warm, soapy water, and a clean toothbrush.
First, lift any loose hairs from the hairbrush, then dip your toothbrush into the soapy water and gently brush in between the teeth of the brush until all product build-up is removed.
Let the brush air dry with the teeth facing upwards, and you're done.
My Tangle Teezer Wet Detangler Review.
I haven't brushed my hair since I was 10, so trialling this hairbrush brought to mind a not-so-fond childhood memory of my hair strands snagging on bristles.
While my lovely mama tried her best, her brushing my hair was a traumatic experience for everyone involved.
Since then, my ‘hair brushing’ method has been getting out of the shower, flipping my hair upside down and running my fingers through knots.
This might explain why my hair is always knotty at the nape of my neck once it’s dried.

Now, for my honest thoughts after using this Tangle Teezer brush for a few weeks now:
- This brush actually feels like a little mini scalp massage.
- No snagging or pulling, so it can be used on those with sensitive scalps.
- As someone with a-lot of hair, I struggle to get product through my hair, so using this hairbrush helped me distribute my masks and treatments - I think that in itself is worth spending $25.50 on.
- Any time I’ve used a hairbrush on my thick and kind of wavy hair, it ends up making my hair puff out or look more frizzy once it’s dried. Not with this brush.
- The Tangle Teezer brush did a really good job at getting out my knots and tangles, and transforming my birds nest into silky, soft strands.
Final Verdict…
Now I've tried this Tangle Teezer brush - despite insisting I hate hairbrushes - I get why my editor asks me to try all kinds of beauty products.
This wet detangling brush is the definition of a product I didn't know I needed.
If anything, I'm mad that I could've solved my birds nest hair issues a long time ago.
