I'm confident everyone reading this has experienced a split end or two in their lifetime - I know I certainly have. But what actually causes them, and how can we prevent them?

There are a lot of reasons we can get split ends. They can be caused by overstyling, frequent use of heat tools, improper detangling, chemically treating the hair or not using conditioning products, just to name a few. Most of us opt for a trim to split up from split ends, but what happens when they're further up the hair shaft and a chop isn't an option?
