A lot of people are into "French girl" beauty, with its tousled hair, creamy skin, and blurred red lip.
It is hot, do not get me wrong.
But me?
I am an Italophile all the way. A little more sensual and rich-feeling, Italian beauty has a luxurious quality, and one of its hallmarks is really good hair.
Soft! Swishy! Shiny!
So you can imagine I was thrilled to learn that my pals at Adore Beauty are now stocking Davines.
This Italian hair care brand comes from Parma, the same place as Parmesan, and has been around since 1983.
I have tried some of the range over the years, but for this review I road-tested a trio from their bestselling Oi line.
Here is everything you need to know about Davines hair care, along with my mini-reviews.
For reference, friends, my hair is fine, wavy, and coloured.

What is Davines?

Davines is a world-renowned hair care brand that was established in the ‘80s by the Bollati Family.
It started out as a high-end research laboratory that created hair care products for other cosmetic companies.
After a decade, they switched to creating professional hair products for salons under their own brand name!
The brand marries primo products with environmental responsibility and has garnered a dedicated following.
(During the pandemic, they experienced super-high demand, often selling out due to their stellar reviews.)
They’re well known for their focus on sustainability. For e.g. all Davines products are Plastic Net-Zero, which means that for every product they sell, an equivalent amount of plastic is removed from the environment.
They also plant trees to offset their carbon emissions and work on reducing their footprint overall.
Plus, their formulas are all made with naturally derived ingredients, which are sourced from organic farms when suitable and available. (They also use synthetic ingredients where necessary for optimal results.)
The brand offers dozens of products in hair care and styling, targeting all sorts of hair types and concerns.
And, every single range is gorgeous – the packaging is simple and low-key but really beautiful.

Davines OI Daily Nourishing Shampoo.

Fast facts:
  • Provides gentle yet effective cleansing for all hair types and textures.
  • Infused with beta-carotene-rich roucou oil for nourishment and antioxidants for hair health.
  • Enhances shine, tames frizz and detangles for a smooth, glossy finish.
  • It has a luxurious scent (a little bit like an expensive powdery floral perfume).
  • Cruelty-free and vegan.
My mini Davines Oi Daily Nourishing Shampoo review:
So many shampoos leave my hair squeaky clean (bad), dry (also bad), and tangled (even worse).
Even formulas that claim to nourish and hydrate can strip my strands. (Explains my trust issues.)
This one gently cleanses away grime and product build-up without sucking the life out of my hair.
It lathers up nicely, too – I can’t explain, but the texture of the suds is just…rich-feeling.

Davines OI Daily Nourishing Conditioner.

Fast facts:
  • Also infused with nourishing roucou oil and antioxidants to revitalise hair.
  • Effectively detangles and smooths, reducing frizz for a sleek finish.
  • Boosts radiance and shine, and leaves hair feeling soft and silky.
  • Infused with the same delightful fragrance as the matching shampoo.
  • Also cruelty-free and vegan.
My mini Davines Oi Daily Nourishing Conditioner review:
The perfect complement to the Oi shampoo, the formula is more like a hair mask than a conditioner.
It’s thick, it’s rich and a delight to use. Replenishing! Restorative! Really, really luscious! My mop loves it.
After shampooing my hair, I squeeze out as much water as I can, then smooth this from mid-lengths to ends.
I only leave it in for a few minutes before I comb it through and rinse it out, but the results are instant.

Davines OI Milk.

Fast facts:
  • A multi-tasking, leave-in conditioning formula for easy, breezy hair care.
  • Has a lightweight, milky texture that’s light enough for daily use.
  • Also infused with roucou oil for a dose of hydration, shine, and detangling.
  • Adds shine and manages frizz, and preps and primes hair for hair styling.
  • Protects the hair against heat damage up to 210 degrees Celsius.
My mini Davines Oi Milk review:
The best thing about this leave-in conditioning milk is its ability to sink in without making hair greasy.
My hair is fine and easily overwhelmed by heavier oils and treatments, so I am picky with what I use.
Its serum-like texture makes it quick and easy to apply, and it sinks in super-quickly for softer, silkier strands.
Plus! It smells so lush. It does wonders on my hair, and over time I fully believe it has left it healthier-looking.
