I Tried The Aveda Botanical Repair Range To Help Strengthen My Bronde Locks

I have been lightening my hair for over twelve years, which means I’ve probably spent somewhere near 90+ hours in colour services, so it’s fair to say my hair has lived a few lives.
My natural hair colour is brunette, however, I have colour treated hair with blonde accents scattered throughout which means that I can easily fall victim to dryness, chemical damage as well as breakage…
When I heard about the plant-powered AVEDA Botanical Repair range I was super excited to get my hands on it and see what it could do to revive my self professed brondie-locks.
With split ends, dryness and a mop of hair that was due for a haircut, I thought it was the perfect time to take this range for a spin, with a particular interest in the Botanical Repair Bond-Building Flash Treatment that promises strengthened hair from the inside out after just one use.

Step one in my routine had to be a nice cleansing shampoo, because I had some product build up that was ready to be tended to.
I love a shampoo that doesn’t weigh the hair down and that’s exactly what I got with Aveda’s Repair and Strengthening Shampoo.

This a very gentle shampoo that works to improve hair health without leaving it feeling stripped or weighed down, the perfect goldilocks of shampoos in my opinion.
It cleansed my hair well and left the signature botanical repair scent that I just can’t get enough of.
For best results, make sure that you’re giving your locks a double cleanse - the first shampoo removes product build up, oils and debris from the hair and scalp which allows the second shampoo to penetrate the clean hair shaft.

Step 2 was all about conditioning.
Just like the shampoo in this range, Aveda’s Botanical Repair Strengthening Conditioner works to bring silky, strong hair without weighing it down.
Apply to cleansed hair, leave it on for a few minutes, and rinse out for locks that feel soft, strong and refreshed.

Post-shampooing, I applied this conditioner generously through my mid-lengths and focussed application on my ends as these are chronically dry from years of colour services.
I like to leave my conditioner on for a few minutes, choosing to cleanse my face or shave my legs so I can let the formula work its magic.
A pro tip I once learnt from a hairdresser was to quickly towel dry the ends of your hair before applying conditioner; dryer hair allows a higher absorption rate, meaning less product waste and a more potent application.
After rinsing, my hair felt soft, manageable, and weightless—exactly what I look for in a daily conditioner.

3. AVEDA Botanical Repair Bond-Building Flash Treatment.
What does the AVEDA Botanical Repair Bond-Building Flash Treatment do?
This was the step I was most excited to try because it promised glass-like hair and instant softness.
If you are looking for shiny hair in literally one wash, this flash treatment might just be your new haircare BFF.
Pop this on roots to ends after cleansing and conditioning your hair and leave on for only TEN seconds (yes, you read that right) before rising out, leaving hair stronger, smoother, and visibly revitalised.
A key takeaway here is that this treatment works to resurface the cuticle by smoothing down damaged, frayed layers, resulting in a flawless, smooth finish. It's the perfect solution for frizzy, damaged hair that has endured years of chemical treatments— like mine.

My mini AVEDA Botanical Repair Bond-Building Flash Treatment review:
Whilst this treatment is suitable for all hair types, if you find that you have oily roots, I’d focus product application more towards your mid lengths and ends.
As soon as I applied this to my hair I was greeted with the calming herbal fragrance that the treatment offers, which I was a big fan of.
I tend to get oily roots, however, I have very dry ends so I chose to concentrate the treatment on my midlengths and ends which worked a treat.
My hair definitely felt softer, shinier and more manageable after using this treatment, not to mention the amazing smell that followed on.
My Post-Wash Routine.
Once my strands have been cleansed and conditioned, I like to go in with the Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment to damp hair.
This is a no rinse formula (I love that I don’t have to wash this out) that strengthens bonds at the core for healthier, stronger strands. It also provides heat protection up to 232°C, which I love—knowing my locks are protected while I heat style.

Final Verdict...
After putting the Aveda Botanical Repair range to the test, I can confidently say it’s a keeper for anyone with colour-treated or dry/damaged hair.
My locks have been through their fair share of dye jobs and heat styling, so finding a range that works to repair my blonder hair, rather than just masking damage was a big win.
Each step of this routine felt like a little self-care ritual, from the botanical, earthy scent that filled my shower to the silky soft hair I was left with.
