If you’ve ever dyed your hair, you’ll know that the colour-fade struggle is real. And a struggle I know all too well.
Some hair context:
Flashback to 15-year-old Ada, who believed the best form of self-expression was changing her hair colour... every three months. (Bless my young follicles).
I feel like everyone’s had their wild hair phase, whether that’s black to brown to blonde or a cowboy copper moment. Me? I chose the rainbow route. Name a colour, and I’ve probably had it. (Proof below).

So, it’s safe to say my hair has been through it.
So when Fran came to me asking if I wanted to try Matrix’s colour protecting range, I thought to myself, there’s honestly no one more qualified to test this than me.
Because my hair has been through things, I gravitate towards formulas that are nourishing, protective, and help keep my colour vibrant between salon visits.
Luckily, that’s exactly what this range promises to do, so I was excited to see what it could do for my coloured hair.
Here's the lowdown on what the range is all about and how it performed on my (very experienced) strands.
What is the Matrix Glow Mania Colour Protecting Range?
A trusted name in professional haircare, Matrix are beloved for their juicy, vibrancy boosting formulas. Their new Glow Mania Colour Protecting Range is designed with colour lovers in mind, helping to minimise colour fade and dulling for up to 8 weeks, while boosting shine and vibrancy between salon visits.
This sulphate-free range is powered by glycolic acid, known for its gentle exfoliating and sealing properties, and rosehip oil, a rich source of antioxidants and nourishment. Together, these ingredients work to keep hair glossy, protected from external damage and vibrant.

Let’s break down the hero products:
Matrix Glow Mania Colour Protecting Range Review

The shampoo itself has this jelly-like texture (so fun!). It tries to slurp itself back into the bottle if you’re not quick enough, but then transforms into a silky, glossy lather that I love. It also has a refreshing zesty scent that transports me straight back to those head spas I visited in Vietnam, talk about instant relaxation.
The conditioner is so nourishing and silky, which is my favourite part of hair wash day because it lets me momentarily forget the years of colour chaos I’ve put my hair through.
Since I have red hair, I can instantly tell when colour starts to fade or lose its shine. So far, after using this range, I’ve noticed that the vibrancy sticks around a little longer so I’m keen to see what it can do for my hair with continued use.
But the MVP of this range? It’s 100% the leave-in conditioner that doubles as a gloss and heat protectant (up to 230°C). Talk about a multitasker. It works to seal the hair cuticle to maintain hydration levels, soften strands and add shine.
I spray it generously on damp hair before styling, and man does it leave my hair soft and silky. The glossy sheen I get after curling my hair is (sooo) addictive.
As I’m writing this, it’s day three hair, and honestly, she’s still feeling soft and looking shiny. So, I’d call that a win.
