I remember my first whiff of the Not A Perfume scent like it was yesterday...
I was walking to my car with an Adore Beauty colleague when I smelt a fragrance so intoxicating, I had to find out where it was coming from.
"What’s that smell?" I asked her, sniffing around the parking garage like a sniffer dog at the airport. She replied with a knowing smile. "Not A Perfume."
I'd heard of
Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume EDP 50mL - it’s one of our best-selling fragrances on Adore.
But in that moment, I finally understood what all the hype was about.
I ordered one online the very next day and it's been my signature scent ever since.
And if you're a lover of this fragrance too, keep scrolling for some VERY exciting news...
Meet Juliette Has A Gun Not A Collection.

Finding your signature scent is a glorious moment, but you know what's even more glorious?
When the fragrance house responsible for your signature scent releases it as a candle.
And a body wash. And a room spray and a diffuser and a body lotion.
The cult Not A Perfume scent is now available in a home collection aptly titled
“Not A Collection'' featuring seven products:
The entire range is scented with Not A Perfume, and also has no artificial colorants, sulphates, SLS, SLES, phthalates or parabens.
But what exactly is the intoxicating scent that makes Not A Perfume so good? Cetalox.
What Is Cetalox?
Not A Perfume and all the perfumes and home products have a sweet, musky amber scent made up of a single note.
It contains a molecule called cetalox (also known as ambroxan) that is the synthetic form of the naturally-occurring substance ambergris.
Cetalox enhances other scents and works with your unique skin chemistry, meaning the scent it gives off is unique to you.
It's also hypoallergenic, which makes it a great option for those sensitive to fragrances.
But here's the best bit:
I kid you not,
ambergris is formed from a secretion of the bile duct in the intestines of sperm whales. Stay with me.
This substance can be found floating in the sea or washed up on beaches.
One scientist even called ambergris “floating gold”, which is kinda accurate considering a tiny 1.57kg chunk of the stuff found in the UK in 2016 was estimated to be worth almost AU$90,000...
Back in the day, ambergris was highly coveted by perfumers for its unique scent and many used it as a base note in fragrances.
But because it's so rare (and the fact importing it into Australia is illegal), scientists found a way to synthetically recreate it in a lab.
Thus, cetalox was born. And in my humble, non-scientific opinion, it really is synthetic gold.
My Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume Home Review.

OK back to the products.
All of these home fragrances are a chic delight, but I'm going to introduce you to my two favourites from this range:
The new home diffuser and the shower gel so good, I buy it in bulk.
First of all, the diffuser is the epitome of modern luxury.
Literally, I could've cried when I spilt some of it in the living room. Thankfully, the scent lasts for ages.
Not only is the chic glass bottle the perfect mix of modern, quirky and retro, but the fragrance fluid has a milky look I haven't seen before in a diffuser!
The fact I can now have my super unique and clean signature scent permeate through my home all day is amazing.
Oh, and I might even keep the glass bottle and repurpose it as a vase. Once it's empty, of course.
Now let me tell you about
Juliette Has A Gun Not A Shower Gel 250ml - the bougie body wash that brings the intoxicating scent from the parking garage into my shower for the most luxurious at-home spa-like experience.
Trust me, this isn’t your average shower gel.
It's so good, I recently snapped up not one, not two, BUT THREE bottles of the stuff.
I even used precious space in my suitcase during a two-month-long road trip to bring this body wash with me.
Because once you’ve gone Not A Perfume, you can hardly revert back to hotel soap.

Aside from being a great body wash, Not A Shower Gel is also a perfume booster.
This means you can either spritz your Not A Perfume fragrance over the top, or layer it with other perfumes because the signature Not A Perfume scent enhances the middle and bases notes of other fragrances.
To conclude, I'm obsessed with this shower gel. And the diffuser. Actually, I love the whole range.
I love this scent SO much, not only do I now bathe in it, I've even considered pouring it into a pump bottle to use as a hand wash...
Here's hoping that could be the brand's next product launch. (Please.)
