This Is the Moisturiser I Swear By for Dry Skin Prep

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve raved about IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream, I wouldn’t be writing this article for you now. I’d be living off my earnings.
So you can imagine my shock horror when I discovered it was being renovated towards the end of last year.
Nobody ever wants to hear one of their favourite products is being reformulated - we love it the way it is. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it etc.
Luckily in this case, the original formula remains, and we’ve been given the gift of a supercharged version.
Anyone familiar with this moisturiser would describe it as a humble, no-fuss, rich moisturising cream. It’s one of those textures that just glides across the skin.
It’s been one of my favourite skin prep products to wear under makeup for years.

What Is the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream?
The original IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream moisturiser formula contains a blend of ceramides, peptides and other skin hydrators, helps to smooth and plump the skin, and makes an excellent base for makeup.
The supercharged IT Cosmetics Confidence In a Cream 60ml formula apparently fast tracks results (being an improvement in the appearance of fine lines, radiance, skin tone and texture to name a few), provides longer lasting hydrating properties, and has received a boost of some very important ingredients.
IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Ingredients.
Confidence In A Cream Supercharged contains 4% niacinamide, which you can expect to enhance your skin’s radiance, provide hydration, balance oil production and reduce the appearance of discolouration.
It also contains 3% squalane, an emollient that helps to reduce transepidermal water loss (very important as we age).
The formula also boasts a peptide lipid complex which supports the improvement of several key signs of ageing; ceramides to ensure healthy barrier function and optimal hydration; and of course, hyaluronic acid, which by now I don’t think requires an explanation.
How to Use the It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream.
For a daytime look, I’ll use IT Cosmetics Confidence In a Cream 60ml as my moisturiser in my skincare routine, apply my SPF over the top, and then go in with foundation.
Some of my favourite foundations I use with this product are Ella Bache Superfluid Great SPF50+, Huda Beauty GloWish Multi Dew Skin Tint and L'Oreal Paris True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum
For evening wear, I ditch the SPF and layer my foundation right over the top of Confidence in a Cream.
Occasionally I’ll add a radiance primer to the mix, like the Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer - GOLDor M.A.C Cosmetics Studio Radiance Moisturizing & Illuminating Silk Primer just to increase the longevity of my look.
These days, as I’m oilier, I’ll powder through the T-zone, and feather out my powder brush across my mid-face from the sides of my nose, and I sometimes reach for a more satin finish foundation like DIOR Backstage Face & Body Foundation.
For best results, the brand suggests applying Confidence in a Cream to clean skin in the morning and evening and paying special attention to the areas where your skin needs most moisture.
My IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Review.
I have used the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream in place of a primer for a few years now.
As a former normal to dry skin girlie (my skin is now a bit more combo since coming off the contraceptive pill), I’ve relied on this product to give my skin the appearance of butter: radiant, reflective, glowing, delicious.
Having tried both formulas, I can confirm, the texture is pretty identical.
I detect slightly more of a fragrance to the Supercharged, but that’s just a personal observation, and my skin felt equally as bouncy and moisturised with both.
They also both performed as exceptional makeup bases.

Final Verdict...
If you have dry skin and find your makeup consistently flakes, looks patchy or dull, or seems to disappear from your face without you removing it, this might be worth a try.
Would I suggest this product as skin prep for truly oily skins? No, I wouldn’t.
It’s not going to cause any harm, but I think you’d find it too rich for your skin type, and you’d either need a truckload of translucent powder or an ultra-matte foundation to not represent as an oil slick.
