Urban Apothecary London was brought to life by a love of fragrance and traditional ingredients. Not content to retread the same familiar steps, Urban Apothecary began to layer fragrance ingredients, including flowers, fruits, resins and woods, in contemporary and unconventional ways.

Founder Tajinder Banwait, part artisan and part ‘nose’, acts as the perfumer-alchemist behind Urban Apothecary’s captivating scents. Her unusual approach to pairing botanicals has resulted in distinctive aromas that capture a mix of memories and moods to inspire, nurture and transport. From an early age she found herself in a love affair with fragrance, discovering how a particular scent could clearly capture a time, a place, a memory. By locking cherished moments in a scented snapshot, she could easily revisit precious memories, and be inspired to create new ones.

Urban Apothecary London was created at Tajinder Banwait’s kitchen table, the idea sparked by abundant botanicals spilling out of glass jars and beautiful bottles. Channeling her love of perfume into a lifestyle collection that stirs the senses and encourages curiosity, the unique range of candles, diffusers and hand and body care was born.

From the very first candle collection launched in 2011, to the expansion to diffusers, body care and beyond, quality and craftsmanship has been integral to the brand. Each candle is hand-poured in a factory in Leicestershire, ensuring that the exacting specifications are always met. With a pared back, monochromatic design, each product in the Urban Apothecary London range allows the fragrance to take centre stage.
